The Child's Bath by Mary Cassatt
The Child's Bath (1893)
Mary Cassatt | Impressionism | Oil on canvas
A mother gently washes her child's feet in a basin. You can see the love and care in every brushstroke!
Did you know? Cassatt was an American who lived most of her life in France, and she was the only American officially linked with the Impressionists. Notice how you look down on the bath from above, as if you were floating over it! She picked up that trick from Japanese woodblock prints and from her friend Edgar Degas.
