The Annunciation by Fra Angelico
The Annunciation by Fra Angelico
The Annunciation (1440)
Fra Angelico | Renaissance | Fresco
A beautiful angel with rainbow wings visits Mary under an elegant arcade. The colors are so soft and gentle, like a peaceful dream painted in pastel!
Did you know? This fresco is painted at the top of a staircase in a convent, so the friars passed it every day on the way to their rooms. A Latin line along the bottom reminds anyone walking by to stop and say a Hail Mary!
