Virgin of Bethlehem (Virgen de Belen) - Fine Art Print

This is not a portrait of the Virgin herself but a portrait of a statue: Cusco's beloved Virgen de Belen, still dressed in real jewels and carried through the streets every Corpus Christi. An unidentified Cusco School painter, working around 1700 to 1720, stamped gold leaf, brocateado, over every fold to fake the shimmer of woven brocade.
