Wheatfield with Crows by Vincent van Gogh
Wheatfield with Crows (1890)
Vincent van Gogh | Post-Impressionism | Oil on canvas
Golden wheat stretches under a dark, stormy sky while black crows fly overhead. A path runs into the middle of the waving grain and seems to lead nowhere!
Did you know? Van Gogh painted this in July 1890, in the last weeks of his life. People often call it his very last painting, but that was probably Tree Roots. In a letter to his brother Theo and Theo's wife Jo, he said his new wheat field paintings tried to show sadness and extreme loneliness.
