Delivery of the Keys by Pietro Perugino
Delivery of the Keys (1482)
Pietro Perugino | Renaissance | Fresco
Jesus hands a silver key and a gold key to Saint Peter, who kneels in front of a huge plaza. A grand eight-sided temple stands in the middle, with a triumphal arch on each side!
Did you know? Pope Sixtus IV hired Perugino to paint in the Sistine Chapel, and the job was so big that Botticelli and Ghirlandaio joined in. Look at the far right: one man there is said to be Perugino himself! He later became the teacher of a young painter named Raphael.
