The Flood at Port-Marly by Alfred Sisley
The Flood at Port-Marly (1876)
Alfred Sisley | Impressionism | Oil on canvas
A flooded street becomes a peaceful river! A wine shop called A Saint-Nicolas stands in the water while clouds reflect on the calm surface all around.
Did you know? The wine shop in this painting was a real building in Port-Marly. It is gone now, replaced by a café, but Sisley's picture of it was shown at the second Impressionist exhibition in Paris, the same year the flood happened!
