The Transfiguration by Raphael
The Transfiguration (1520)
Raphael | Renaissance | Oil on panel
This dramatic painting has two stories at once! At the top, Jesus floats in glowing light, and at the bottom, a crowd of people need his help.
Did you know? This was Raphael's very last painting. When he died on April 6, 1520, at only 37, it was displayed for a couple of days at the head of his bier, the stand where his body lay at his home in Rome.
